Greenlight Planning Academy exists to cut through the confusion of planning. We help communities, built environment professionals, and students gain a clear understanding of what the planning process involves, why it matters, and where the main hurdles lie. We are here to make the planning system more accessible, so you can navigate it with confidence.
Who Are We
Greenlight Planning Academy offers 'Planning Permission Made Simple' through our unique approach. The Workshops are lead by John Scally, a RTPI Chartered Town Planner with over 12 years of experience as a Planning Consultant. John has considerable experience achieving planning permissions on behalf of clients for small, medium, and major development projects across Ireland and the UK and across all land uses disciplines. I have successfully navigated the planning process, and I'm here to share that expertise with you.

We aim to reach a broad audience, including: Homeowners and property developers, Residents and community members, Built environment professionals, Recent graduates, Local councillors and policy makers, Landowners, Students, Community activists and advocacy groups, Real estate professionals, and Curious citizens. We address the challenges they face when navigating the planning permission process, offering clarity and guidance.
Our Story
Planning is becoming an increasingly topical — and for some, frustrating, costly, and even unnecessary — part of everyday life. Greenlight Planning Academy was born to address this. Our 4‑week crash course delivers the essentials: what’s involved, key things to watch out for, and how processes can differ. Once you understand the basics, planning becomes less daunting (and in some cases, a lot easier).
